Volker Henze – Malerei & Henry Stöcker – Skulptur
Wir freuen uns sehr, zum ersten Mal Arbeiten des Berliner Malers Volker Henze auszustellen. Seine emotionalen Bilder, auf denen funkelnde, mutige Farben und Formen scheinbar explodieren, bereichern unser Galerieprogramm. Der mal kraftvolle, mal leichte Rhythmus der Farbenflut weckt Assoziationen und Erinnerungen – und dann erscheinen manchmal vorher nicht gesehene figurative Elemente. Volker Henze sagt zu seinen Bildern: „In ihnen etwas wieder zu erkennen ist möglich. Aber es ist, als würde man Wolkenformen lesen.“
Die Skulpturen von Henry Stöcker, geformt aus Gips, zusammengefügt aus Fundstücken unterschiedlicher Materialien, muten allein durch ihre Dreidimensionalität konkreter an. Auch wenn eher bizarre Formen erkennbar sind, vermitteln die Objekte Anklänge an menschliche Haltungen und Eigenschaften – immer elegant und nicht selten humorvoll.

We are very pleased to be exhibiting works by the Berlin painter Volker Henze for the first time. His emotional pictures, in which sparkling, bold colors and shapes seem to explode, enrich our gallery program. The sometimes powerful, sometimes light rhythm of the flood of colors awakens associations and memories – and then sometimes previously unseen figurative elements appear. Volker Henze says about his pictures: “It is possible to recognize something in them. But it’s like reading cloud shapes.”
Henry Stöcker’s sculptures, made of plaster and assembled from found objects made of different materials, appear more concrete simply because of their three-dimensionality. Even if rather bizarre forms are recognizable, the objects convey echoes of human attitudes and characteristics – always elegant and often humorous.

Deep Thought findet in diesem aufschlussreichen Roman nach 7,5 Millionen Jahren Rechenzeit
eine simple Antwort auf die großen Fragen nach dem Leben, dem Universum und Allem. Sie lautet
„42“. Diese Antwort versteht aber nur wer die richtigen Fragen stellt.
Meine Bilder fragen in diese Richtung. Sie zeigen keine vertrauten Wunschbilder, sondern sind so
absurd und fremd wie die Welt. In ihnen etwa wiedererkennen ist möglich. Aber es ist als würde
man Wolkenformen lesen.

In his novel The Hitchhiker’s Gide To The Galaxy, Douglas Adams describes the touching simplicity of the inhabitants of the „…little blue green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazing primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea“. In this insightful novel, the supercomputer Deep Thought finds a simple answer to the big questions about life, the universe and everything after 7.5 million years of computing time. It is „42“.
But only those who ask the right questions will understand this answer. My paintings ask in this direction. They do not show any familiar wishful thinking, but are as absurd and alien as the world. It is possible to recognize something in them. But it’s like dignity
to read cloud shapes.
